Our hand picked design team will help you choose colors, premium floor and wall coverings from around the world; design series fixtures and lighting; top of the line appliances and more. All of your extraordinary materials are installed and hand finished by master craftsmen.
Structural Exterior Wall Materials
We use a wide variety of materials including double frame construction, adobe brick and rastra, depending on your preference and budget.
Plaster
Hand-troweled plaster, with its subtle sheen and color, is a beautiful interior finish and a perfect complement to adobe architecture. Our master craftsmen apply the plaster by hand and add special finishing details to doorframes, lintels, and corners.
Stucco
Stucco is a traditional cover for adobe brick because it allows for expression of form while providing a low maintenance exterior. Stucco’s rich earth tones, textured surface, and soft corners blend with the landscape and create a historic appearance.
Stone
Stonework is a signature element in a Barranca Builders home. Our own masons cut stone by hand for flooring, counter tops, lintels, and more. They also stack stone to create architectural elements reminiscent of ancient Chaco Canyon. River rocks, smoothed by centuries in the Pecos River, add unique touches to fireplaces and throughout the home.
Wood
Weathered wood adds rich character to each of our homes. Vigas, floors, wood doors, and cabinetry are custom designed and hand crafted for each home. We often reclaim “standing dead wood” from a forest in Northern New Mexico. These aged timbers left behind by forest fires have a rich patina and bring amazing depth to the home.
Water
Water features provide a sparkling counterpoint to many of the outdoor living areas we design. It’s precious in our high desert environment, so we always use recycled water or natural run-off.
